The Boudoir Room: What's a Boudie Bag and Why You Need One.

Updated: Jan 4

What's a Boudie Bag and where do I get one?

A Boudie Bag is not just a bag you dedicate to hold your items for your upcoming boudoir experience, but a container you are entrusting to hold the most raw version of you.  It doesn't have to be an item you purchase before your session and is totally optional to you whether you need one or not! But being a Boudoir Photographer - I personally think anyone who books a boudoir session should have her own Boudie Bag, for more than just transportation purposes.

It wont surprise anyone when I say that I'm a very visual person - being that im a photographer. I'm not only ever just looking for aesthetics and beauty, I like to set visual intentions to help me keep a clear thought and steady emotions for any situation. In this case your Boudie Bag may reflect how you want to feel during your Boudoir session - lets keep the plastic grocery bags for the bathroom trash.

There are also benefits that are physically intentional just as much as it is mentally. There is the obvious of transporting all of your boudie needs. A Boudie Bag is also super helpful when it comes to hiding and surprising a significant other and being able to barrow something of theirs for the session without ruining the spicy photo surprise. Not to mention, with the housing market being where its at there is no judge on living at mama's, or if you have children running around - a Boudie Bag keeps all unwanted eyes and curious questions at bay.

So what goes into a Boudie Bag? Anything you can fit in that bitch, but girl please dont throw your delicate lingerie under your heels. Your boudie bag should be big enough to fit all the items you are planning on bringing to your session. Here's a check list of items you may be bringing to your boudie experience.

Lingerie: 2 - 3 of your favorite piece's Extra outfits: Spouses shirt, slip dress, robes, etc. Shoes

Jewelry Props: Spouses tie, wedding veil, etc.

Fishnets & Stockings Lotion & moisturizer Boudie Bags in The Boudoir Room are good for setting intentions, avoiding Nosey Nelle's, and keeping you together, but with good there can be bad. Lucky for us there isn't much bad with boudoir and the list is short with boudie bags. The biggest thing I see with clients is that most of their lingerie is just shoved to the bottom of the bag. I can't tell you how many times I have seen broken metal clamps - missing gems - torn lace and ripped fishnets on new lingerie pieces just from being shoved into the bag. Like we talked about in the beginning - your Boudie Bag should reflect how you want to feel during your boudoir session. Avoid forcing items into your bag, just like in the studio nothing is forced and we leave room for comfort. Make sure your bag is big enough for all of your boudie needs. Keeping bigger and bulkier items like shoes and robes at the bottom and more delicate items like sheer lingerie and tights are more towards the top of the bag. It all circles back to setting intentions with boudoir. What is your purpose for the session? How do you want to feel? How do you want to look? Are you celebrating a mile stone or pushing yourself out of your comfort zone? It can seem silly to compare all of the high emotion and deep questions to a bag. But see that bag as yourself. The items you put inside will reflect how you may feel inside.

Take a day or 2 before your session to make sure you have everything you need for your session in your boudie bag. That way the night before or the morning of, you are not stressed and forcing your items inside the bag - but can simply pick it up and get to your session with confidence. So, What's in your Boudie Bag?
